MENGATASI KETERBATASAN SARANA PEMBELAJARAN DENGAN CLOUD COMPUTING

Abstract

Electronic waste is hazardous and normally can not be recycled. In order to support Green Technology, that waste is
being used for education. By applying the concept of Local Cloud Computing and Thin Client, the problem of low
specification of old computers can be resolved. As a major supporter of Cloud Computing technology, virtualization is
used to divide the use of PC resources into several parts that each section can be used by a thin client (old computers).
By leveraging a network of Local Area Network (LAN), each client is connected by using a remote software wich
available on the market. Testing result shown a thin client could run a high graphic software like Computer Aided Three-
Dimensional Interactive Application (CATIA) by accessing a VMWare from Server. Decreasing of RAM of Server did not
affect the performance of application to much. But we must use high quality server for multi-client system except we just
run an application like office, programming language, and others that does not use a lot of memory.
